High-Quality and Fun
Developing tailored approaches and topics to specific audiences, she shares the breadth and depth of her knowledge from decades of scouring the globe for fine artisan cheese, the world-leading curriculum from the Academy of Cheese, and her professional experience in designing and facilitating events that combine a sense of fun with useful content. Her goal is to leave people excited and empowered to increase their enjoyment, study and purchases of artisan cheese.
Engaging and Empowering Participants
Each tasting is built on two pillars: a relevant theme for the audience, and her coach training on creating educational experiences geared to how adults best learn. Some events focus on cheeses from a particular region or country, while others reflect themes such as "Cheese and Geopolitics" or "Cheese, Mystery and Magic," guaranteeing an immediate connection to participants. The events are highly engaging from the first moment, with fun, targeted activities leading right into learning about cheese and prompting guests to reflect on and share their own cheese experiences and knowledge with one another.
A guided tasting through at least half a dozen cheeses follows, with Sharon offering notes on the cheeses' makes, history, and connections to the overall theme and to each other. Throughout her presentation, she connects back to the guests' experiences from the start of the event, bringing everything together to reveal and reinforce the learning for the audience and sending them on their way with excitement to continue pursuing artisan cheese as enthusiasts or students - or both!
A Wide Range of Audiences, Themes and Venues
Sharon's over 500 tastings have taken place around the world, including a decades' worth in Beijing, China where she founded the Beijing Cheese Society and held monthly tastings featuring cheeses from around the world. Currently based in the New York area, Sharon conducts regular tastings in New York and San Francisco, and travels to deliver events on request. She offers a custom approach to each venue, audience and occasion.
For Event Planners & Hosts: What to Expect
Whether you're planning a corporate event, a private party, or looking for a unique team-building experience, Sharon's tastings offer something rare: sophisticated content delivered in a format that's genuinely fun. Her experience extends beyond tastings to educational tours and coaching, making her a versatile resource for anyone looking to deepen their cheese knowledge or share it with others.
A typical tasting runs two hours and features at least six carefully selected cheeses, each chosen to illuminate the theme and tell a story. The cheeses are just the beginning—the real magic happens in how Sharon brings people together around them, instantly forging community in the room and igniting excitement around the stories, science and special aspects that distinguish artisan from mass-market cheeses.

Cheese and the Dark Arts
In this spirited autumn tasting, Sharon explored the uncanny folklore linking cheese to magic, superstition, and women's power. From Circe's cheese-laced spell in the Odyssey to medieval fears of curd-curses, St. Brigid's protective charms, and the Cheese Well of Scotland, guests discovered how dairy became entangled with myth and morality. Alongside these stories, Sharon guided the room through Kunik, Wabash Cannonball, Morbier, Quicke's Cheddar, L'Amuse Gouda, and Cashel Blue—each chosen for its playful connection to the evening's theme. A lively reminder that cheese has long lived at the boundary between the natural and the magical.
The Great Cheese Theory of History
In this lively tasting, Sharon invited guests to consider how cheese has shaped civilizations. From 7,000-year-old Polish cheese strainers to Egypt's lost dairy traditions, Rome's love of Roquefort, and the Mongols' portable aaruul, she traced how dairy fueled trade, conquest, and culture. Jefferson's "mammoth cheese," Colbert's orange-tinted Mimolette, and Brie's victory at the Congress of Vienna added colorful stops along the way. Guests sampled cheeses connected to these stories—including Mimolette, Boulette d'Avesnes, and the historic Brie—discovering how cheese mirrors human ambition, adaptation, and delight.
